Convocations to begin Friday

Seventy medical students will receive their degrees at the annual convocation of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University on Friday, May 6.
The convocation begins at 2 p.m. in Wright Auditorium on the ECU campus.
Also in the ECU Division of Health Sciences, the College of Allied Health Sciences will hold its convocation at 9 a.m. Saturday in Minges Coliseum. The college will graduate 243 students. Of those, 139 will receive bachelor's degrees, 72 will receive master's degrees, 28 will receive doctorates in physical therapy, one will receive an audiology doctoral degree and three will receive other doctorates.
The College of Nursing convocation will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Wright Auditorium. The college will graduate 191 students: 144 bachelor's students, 44 master's students, two students will receive post-master's certificates, and one will receive her doctorate. The senior class has raised $5,000 to fund the construction of a well in a village in Guatemala. It is the first time a senior gift has been given internationally.
Commencement exercises for all ECU graduates will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus will deliver the commencement address. Mabus is also a former governor of Mississippi.
