(Aug. 23, 2002)
Scott Wells, a veteran advancement officer at East Carolina University, has been named interim associate vice chancellor for alumni relations.
Wells, a 1975 graduate of ECU, has been with the university 15 years, most recently as the chief fund-raiser in the College of Arts and Sciences.
In announcing her appointment, Kathryn Yandell, interim vice chancellor for institutional advancement, said, "Scott Wells brings vast experience to her new position. I am confident that she will provide outstanding leadership for our 90,000 alumni."
Margaret Ward, president of the Alumni Association and a member of the ECU Board of Trustees, said, "We all welcome Scott’s energy and loyalty, and I look forward to a rich and productive working partnership."
Wells’ appointment is effective Sept. 5. She will succeed Phillip Horne, who is leaving the university for a position in the private sector.
