ECU among top twenty 'Animal House' schools

GREENVILLE, NC   (Oct. 10, 2002)   —   Sometimes, the distinction that comes with being listed among the country's "most interesting colleges" can sting a little.
Kaplan's Annual National High School Guidance Counselor Survey, published in July as The Unofficial, Unbiased, Insider's guide to the 320 Most Interesting Colleges was painful at first glance for ECU.
Counselors throughout the country were asked, "If the 1975 film Animal House were being remade today, which college campus would serve as its backdrop?" Their responses placed ECU among the top 20 in the Animal House category.
While not exactly a laurel to boast about, the distinction may not be as insulting as it sounds. Other schools making the top 20 line-up put ECU in respectable company.
Here's the listing:

TIE--California State University-Chico and San Jose State University

Kaplan is a well-know provider of educational and career services for individuals, schools and businesses. The company said it used telephone interviews to survey guidance counselors from a random sample of U.S. public, private and Catholic high schools.
