Petting zoo brings animals from around the world to ECU

A petting zoo full of exotic animals visited East Carolina University April 24 to promote the appearance of Benjamin Mee, the man who inspired the popular movie, "We Bought a Zoo."

Mee will share his story following a screening of the movie at 4 p.m. April 24 in Hendrix Theatre, in an event sponsored by SAB Films, SAB Initiatives, the Student Government Association and ECU Pre-Professional Advising Center.

The petting zoo was presented by the Lazy 5 Ranch of Mooresville, N.C., home of a habitat for more than 700 animals including zebras, buffalo, giraffe, lemurs, tropical birds and more. More details about the ranch are available at
