Regional Development Institute
The Regional Development Institute (RDI) has been providing outreach services and conducting applied research in eastern North Carolina since its founding in 1964. Two distinct areas of RDI, the Community and Regional Development arm and the Industry and Economic Development arm, draw upon the expertise of faculty, students, and professional staff to assist in the economic development of the state's easternmost 42 counties. RDI provides assistance to units of local, state, and federal government, as well as to businesses and individuals.
Services offered include:
- Economic development and industry analysis
- Civic planning and design
- Municipal management expertise and services
- Grants acquisition
- Public opinion assessment
- Public policy development support
- Implementing Precision Marketing strategies that target recruitment/retention within regional industry clusters
- Brokering industry and university collaborative and sponsored research analysis and testing
- Developing tailored workforce programs
- Conducting economic impact studies
- Compiling economic data and metrics
