Wounded Warrior
East Carolina University's Psychophysiology Lab and Biofeedback Clinic is assisting Marines of the Wounded Warrior Battalion East,
Camp Lejeune, NC return to civilian life. The Training for Optimal Performance, or TOP program, was implemented in February 2008 to
provide a continuum of services for Marines returning from war with the ultimate goal of assisting them in adjusting to their
disabilities and/or help them transition to civilian life. The TOP program teaches wounded Marines and their families various
methods to improve physical and psychological control autonomic and central nervous system functioning, to build relationship
skills, and to process traumatic experiences. The program currently combines state of the science technology such as virtual
reality and research based interventions.
