Three training modules about Caring in the Digital World are offered by Professor Kathleen Sitzman, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF of the ECU College of Nursing and sponsored by the Office for Faculty Excellence.

The two modules "Conveying and Sustaining Caring in Online Classrooms" and "Mindful Communication for Caring Online" address issues related to mindful caring for people who interact with students and colleagues online.

The module "Caring Science, Mindful Practice at Work and Beyond" extends the techniques to other situations.

These training modules are FREE and can be completed by anyone who has access to the Internet, anywhere in the world. Links to the modules are found at http://www.ecu.edu/ofe/sessions_teaching-modules.cfm.

East Carolina University faculty can access the modules in Cornerstone at http://www.ecu.edu/itcs/cornerstone under Browse for Training > Academic Affairs > Office for Faculty Excellence, or at the URL above.

Those who do not work at ECU can access the modules online at the URL above.

A Certificate of Completion will be sent to participants who submit a Course Reflection Form within the module after content completion.

Completion of a module and submission of a successful DE Reflection Form will qualify for Faculty Development credit as an OFE DE training activity.

STREAMED OFE SESSIONS

Because of reduced parking on East Campus, OFE is now streaming many of its sessions. To view a session live, click on the OFE Sessions tab in the far left of the menu above, then select "Session Search." This will take you to the sign in page for the OFE Mediasite catalog. Sign in with your Pirate ID and passphrase. Once you sign in, you will see a list of upcoming streamed sessions. Click on the Watch link underneath the title of a session to view it full screen.

A Tip for DE Instructors from the Copyright and Course Reserves Workshop

To make ECU Libraries content available to DE students, place the proxy address in front of the regular web address (URL). This way the website will know the DE student is affiliated with ECU.
