ECU Outreach Network
The
ECU Outreach Network (ECU-ON), a division of East Carolina University's
Community Engagement, is a team of ECU faculty, staff, and students who
work with community organizations to find resources for programs that
promote sustainable growth and development in eastern North Carolina,
while providing a meaningful educational experience for ECU students.
ECU-ON
was organized as a pilot project in January 2000 to help communities that
needed funding after the flood of September 1999. Since then, the focus
has expanded to include economic and community development projects for
other communities in the region.
The team received the ECU 2001 Chancellor’s Synergy Award for excellence
in collaboration. The team is committed to continuing this excellence
in service to communities in eastern North Carolina.
How
can the ECU Outreach Network help my community?
ECU-ON recognizes
many communities in eastern North Carolina do not have the financial
and human resources necessary to promote community and economic development.
That is why the network provides assistance free of charge to eligible
community organizations.
To be eligible for assistance your organization must have:
- A project that
addresses social, health, environmental, or community-based needs
- Tax exempt status
[501 3 (c)]
- Insufficient
financial or personnel resources for program planning and development
If your organization
qualifies for assistance, the ECU-ON team can help your community.
What types of projects can ECU-ON help with?
- Identifying
community and university resources
- Researching
funding sources
- Preparing grant
proposals
- Communicating
with a funding source
