March 3, 2012: TCS members helped with the Blue Heron Bowl event at ECU. Local high school students enthusiastically competed in this regional competition for the National Ocean Sciences Bowl.

March 2, 2012: Presentation by Cecilia Krahforst, Coastal Resource Management Ph.D. student. "Survey of Submerged Aquatic Vegetation off North Carolinal".

February 3, 2012: Presentation by Mahealani Kaneshiro-Pineiro, Coastal Resource Management Ph.D. student, "Confessions of a Jellyfish Researcher: A Synopsis of Jellyfish Research in North Carolina".

November 11, 2011: Presentation by Lisa Schiavinato, President of the Coastal Society, "Making Connections: Transitioning from Young Student to Professional".

October 15, 2011: BIG SWEEP in partnership with the ECU Student Subunit of the American Fisheries Society.

October 14, 2011: Presentation by Dr. Steve Culver, Head of Geological Sciences at ECU, on the book he co-authored with Stanley J. Riggs, Dorothea Ames and David Mallinson entitled, "The Battle for North Carolina's Coast: Evolutionary History, Present Crisis and Vision for the Future".

September 19, 2011: TCS support at the Institute for Coastal Science and Policy, bi-annual BBQ social

September 1, 2011: TCS booth at the "Get a Clue Student Involvement Fair".

April 15, 2011: Presentation by Becky Deehr on the Resilience Conference that she attended in Texas and organizational meeting.

March 18, 2011: Presentation by Chad Smith, Coordinator of the Citizen's Monitoring Program of the Albemarle Pamlico Estuary Program and organizational meeting.

Sun Come Up Film and Panel Discussion: February 3, 2011

The ECU Chapter of the Coastal Society hosted Jennifer Redfearn, director of the Oscar Nominated film, Sun Come Up. Joining her on the panel discussion were ECU faculty members Enrique Reyes, Holly Hapke and Lee Maril. About 90 students and faculty attended the showing and discussion in Speight Auditorum.

December 4, 2009: We said farewell to Dr. Lauriston King as Director of the Coastal Resources Management PhD program.
