Welcome to the East Carolina University (ECU) - University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina (UHS) Pediatric Healthy Weight Research and Treatment Center (PHWRTC).

This site provides information about our research and clinical programs, including information on how to make referrals to our Pediatric Healthy Weight clinics. The site also provides links to local, regional, state and national information and data related to childhood obesity, nutrition, and physical activity.

We hope you find the site helpful as you look for resources and strategies to help children achieve a healthy weight in eastern North Carolina, our state and our country.

  • "The Role of Physical Activity in the Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Obesity," presented by Dr. Justin Moore, ECU Department of Public Health at the Department of Family Medicine Grand Rounds, Thursday, August 21st from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Brody Building, Room 2E-92.

  • Come join us at the Pitt County Farmer's Market Nutrition Education Program each Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. May 3rd -- August 30, 2008. Stock up on your fresh fruits and vegetables, watch cooking demonstrations and sample new foods!
