Security Studies Graduate Programs Application Process
Whether you are applying for the Graduate Certificate or the Masters Degree in Security studies, the admissions process is very similar. Everything goes through the application process from ECU's Graduate School.
To be admitted to the Graduate Programs, you must:
Complete the online application from the Graduate School through the Apply Online interface
Have an undergraduate gpa of 2.75 out of 4 in all undergraduate work or a gpa of 3.0 out of 4 in the work taken during the senior year
Submit 3 letters of recommendation
Submit statement of purpose*
Have a satisfactory score on the GRE (MSSS applicants only)
All application materials should be sent to the Graduate School's Admissions Office. They will collect the materials and, once your packet is complete, send them to the Security Studies Program.

Recommendation letters and your statement of purpose may be submitted to the Graduate School via email to gradschool@ecu.edu
If you are already an admitted student and would like to do the Security Studies Certificate, you need to contact the Registrar's Office and have the Certificate added.
*About the Statement of Purpose: Please type (single space) a personal narrative addressing your academic and professional goals and why you are seeking instruction in your chosen graduate program. The narrative should include a description of your expectations of the program, as well as any related qualifications that you possess, including talents, skills, collegiate and professional accomplishments, community activities, and any other substantial personal achievements. This is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your writing skills.
