Bachelor of Science (BS, Professional) in Political Science
General Education Requirements: 42 semester hours consisting of:
- ENGL 1100 and 1200 (6 hours)
- Natural sciences (8 hours)
- Social sciences (12 hours)
- Humanities and fine arts (10 hours)
- Mathematics (3 hours)
- Health, exercise, and sport science (3 hours)
Requirements in Political Science: 48 semester hours with a minimum of 27 hours selected from courses numbered above 2999. Required courses are to be distributed as follows:
- POLS 1010 - National Government (3 hours)
- POLS 2000 - Computer Application for Political Science (3 hours)
- POLS 2010 - Introduction to Comparative Government and Politics (3 hours)
- POLS 2020 - Introduction to International Relations (3 hours)
- POLS 3031 - Behavioral Methodology (3 hours)
- POLS 3240 - State and Local Government (3 hours)
- POLS 3252 - Introduction to Public Administration (3 hours)
- POLS 3255 - Domestic Public Policy (3 hours)
- American Government and Politics Courses (3 hours)
- Public Administration and Public Policy (3 hours)
- Political Theory, Methods and Skills (3 hours)
- Comparative Government and International Politics (3 hours)
- POLS Elective from any field (12 hours)
Additional Cognates:
- 6 semester hours chosen from the following: ENGL 3880 or 3810 or 3820 or 3860 MATH 2283 or 2228
Minor Requirements: A minimum of 24 semester hours in an approved minor field of study.
- Elective courses to complete the 126 semester hours is required for graduation.
