Workshops


Pre-Professional Advising hosts various workshop throughout the year. We offer a series entitled, "So You Want to be..." (a doctor, lawyer, dentist, PA, etc) geared towards those students who are considering a career in the respective field and need information on how to prepare. We also hold general workshops related to preparing students for the graduate school application process, and more specific workshops to provide information on preparing for interviews, standardized tests, and preparing personal statements.

September 5, 4pm: Health Professions Orientation

The Health Professions Orientation workshop is a repeat of the session held during summer orientation. Students who were unable to attend during summer orientation are strongly encourage to attend this session so that they are aware of requirements for their intended health profession program, how to begin preparing as a freshman or transfer student to make themselves more competitive applicants, and the resources available to help them at ECU.


September 6, 3pm, Health Sciences Building: Applying to Graduate School and Writing Your Personal Statement Workshop

This workshop is open to all students interested in a graduate or professional school, but is tailored more towards those pursuing Allied Health programs. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are encouraged to attend. We will discuss the application process for graduate school, standardized test information, and preparing your personal statement.

 

September 15, 9 am - Noon: Prescription for Success

The Prescription for Success is an event designed to educate students interest in health professions on the steps they need to take, and resources available at ECU, to help them be successful.

Representatives from ECU’s Brody School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, and College of Allied Health Sciences professional programs, and College of Nursing will be available, as well as students in these programs, to provide their advice to interested students. We will also showcase our undergraduate health-related programs in an effort to increase student awareness of other options.

The Prescription for Success will run from 9 am - Noon. Check-in is in the Bate Building. Please rsvp here.
