East Carolina University Policy Manual
Welcome to the East Carolina University Policy Manual, the official repository of all approved policies, regulations, and rules (PRRs) at East Carolina University. The procedures for formatting, adopting and publishing PRRs are available in the governing regulation approved by Chancellor Ballard and endorsed by the Board of Trustees, REG 01.15.01. The Drafting Resources section in the menu on the right provides you with additional information, including a template and a flowchart, to assist in the development of new PRRs and the revision of existing PRRs.
ECU is currently in a transition period during which all statements of policy will be organized into functional categories for a user-friendly approach to policy management. You may use the menus on the left to find a PRR or select one of our navigation tools to find policies that have been placed in the manual. New and revised policies will be posted to the University Policy Manual during the last week of each month or will be announced specifically through the ECU Official listserv and all will be listed within the Updates and New PRRs section on the policy manual homepage. During the transition phase, existing expressions of policy published in other documents remain in effect until or unless superseded by a PRR published in the University Policy Manual or otherwise repealed. Many existing published statements of policy can be found through the Policy Sources and Handbooks section in the menu on the policy manual homepage.
The University Policy Committee (UPC) serves as the coordinating and advisory body responsible for the development of the University Policy Manual. The work of this committee is important in relation to the commitment to a clear and transparent process for policy development at East Carolina University. In order to guide the campus community through the transition phase, the committee established a set of transition principles. For additional information, please contact the appropriate committee representative; you will find the committee roster in the UPC section of the menu on the right.
