Current Services Provided

Cognitive- Behavioral Psychotherapy Service

This service is for adults experiencing emotional problems or disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression, stress) and /or individuals wishing to reduce their drinking and or abstain from alcohol or other drugs. We also support individuals already working recovery programs who wish additional individual therapy for co-occuring problems. Empirically-supported short-term treatments are emphasized. We will work with your physician or refer you to a medical provider if you are interested in an evaluation for mediations as well as therapy.

Psycho-Educational Evaluations Service for Learning Disorders (LD/ADHD)

This clinic service provides comprehensive LD/ADHD assessments for college students working with the ECU Disabilities Support Services. The evaluation involves completing 3-4 testing sessions after an extensive interview(s).

Healthy Weight Specialty Service

This clinic service provides an evidence based treatment approach to weight management which focuses on making small, non-restrictive lifestyle changes that result in more permanent weight loss. The program also involves addressing cognitive, behavioral, and emotional factors that affect weight. Over the past year, 90% of individuals have completed the treatment program with an average of 4% total body weight loss, which has been continued with follow-up care. This program is approved for NCFlex reimbursement.

This ten week program is offered in groups of 6-8 members or on an individual basis, depending on therapist availability.

Smoking Cessation Specialty Service

This clinic service provides an evidence-based treatment to help individuals quit (or decrease) smoking/tobacco use while managing their weight. In the program, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is offered in conjunction with nicotine replacement therapy, which research has shown to be the most effective combination. A weight gain prevention component is also incorporated. This program is approved for NCFlex reimbursement.

This program is also offered in groups or on an individual basis, depending on therapist availability.
