Tuan Tran has had a grant from the Alcohol Beverage Medical Research Foundation funded for $50,000!!!!  It is titled “Critical periods of fetal alcohol exposure and effects on cerebellar-dependent learning and neuroanatomy” and has the possibility of a second year of funding as well.  Congratulations!!

 

Jeannie Golden has been invited to submit an article on “Emotional coercion in families with children who have serious emotional disturbance” to the International Journal of Behavioral Consultation and Therapy.    In addition, she has been named as Guest Editor of a special issue of the journal to capture presentations she is organizing at the next National conference ofapplied behavioral analysis.

Tuan Tran’s graduate student, Brook Cathey, won first place in the Biomedical Science Graduate Oral presentation at ECU Research and Creative Achievement week!

 

Erik Everhart was awarded $60,172 for research and development at the sleep center at PCMH!

 

Alan Walker has been invited to write a paper on the practical applications (or lack of them) in 40 papers published in 4 issues of the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology!  According to the editor, Alan’s “track record makes [him] a great person to do this.”

 

Marsha Ironsmith’s student, Stephanie Hill, has been chosen to be one of 16 ECU students to present her senior thesis research entitled “Service learning and college students: Changes in motive for volunteering” to the NC legislators on April 17th in Raleigh.  

Tuan Tran’s student, Andrea Romero, was also chosen as an alternate to present her undergraduate thesis examining the effects of choline in minimizing the impact of 3rd trimester alcohol exposure on associative learning in rats.

Susan McCammon, Christy Walcott and Ajlana Music presented a paper in March at the 20th Annual Research conference:  A system of care for children’s mental health: Expanding the research base, at the University of South Florida.

Today (4/5/07), both Michael Brown and Susan McCammon received their scholar-teacher awards and gave excellent presentations on their integration of research and teaching.  With psychology have 2 of the 10 awardees, we were well represented!
