Overview
The clinical psychology graduate program at East Carolina
University is a two-year,
51 semester-hour program. Students are admitted into one of two basic
tracks within the program: (1) adult clinical psychology or (2) child
clinical psychology. Within the child track, the student may specialize
in child mental health or developmental disabilities. The mission of the
program is to prepare the student to work as a psychologist in the public
mental health sector. In addition to the development of professional
skills as a psychologist, the program also prepares the student to pursue
further educational work at the doctoral level. In pursuit of this goal,
the program demands a research thesis as part of the degree requirements.
Upon completion of the class work, practicum work, internship, and thesis, the
graduate of the clinical psychology program is eligible for licensure by the
North Carolina Psychology Board as a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA).
