The integrated BA in
Psychology/MS in Occupational Therapy Program provides a means by
which highly qualified students may complete both a BA
degree in psychology and the professional master’s degree in
occupational therapy in five years instead of the traditional six
years. The combined degree program requires a total of 184
semester
hours and allows for 15 semester hours of coursework to count toward
both the graduate and undergraduate degrees. The requirements for the
degree are spelled out on the Advising Checksheet available here (Adobe pdf file).
Students must apply to
the graduate school as an integrated
undergraduate/graduate after 75 credits of undergraduate work is
completed. Incoming students must meet requirements for the honors
program and must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of
3.5/4.0 at East Carolina University. Students who complete the program
will receive an undergraduate degree in psychology upon completing all
required courses, typically at the end of the first year of the
graduate occupational therapy program. Permission to pursue the
integrated program does not guarantee an admission to the Graduate
School.
Interested students
should consult their advisor and the Department of Occupational Therapy
for
additional information.
