What is a "QEP"? QEP Pens

QEP stands for "Quality Enhancement Plan." In short, a QEP is a plan to implement and assess a focused set of initiatives designed to improve student learning across the university. While a QEP is a required element of university accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), it is more than a hoop to jump through or a way for an outside agency to check up on the university: it is an opportunity to coordinate and strengthen the educational experiences of ECU students because a QEP focuses on improving the future rather than evaluating the past. For more information about what a QEP is or further details about the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, visit the SACS Commission on Colleges website at http://sacscoc.org

What is the focus of ECU's QEP?

ECU's Quality Enhancement Plan--"Write Where You Belong"--is a multi-faceted, multi-year project to integrate, align, and reinforce writing instruction for students from the day that they begin their first classes at ECU to the day that they complete their degrees and transition into the workplace or advanced study. For more details about how this topic was selected and the initiatives being developed to support students and faculty, click the links to the right.

How can I assist with the QEP?

We welcome your comments, ideas, and participation! To get involved, contact Dr. Wendy Sharer (sharerw@ecu.edu), QEP Director, or get in touch with a member of the QEP Steering Committee (see "QEP People" link for a roster).
