Barbara E. Lazio, MD

Co-director, Gamma Knife Center

        Dr. Lazio, is a neurosurgeon with Neurosurgical and Spine Associates in Greenville, NC. She is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Lazio received specialized training in general neurosurgery, neurosurgical trauma and radiosurgery from the University of Maryland Medical Center where she completed her surgical internship and neurosurgical residency. An active author and lecturer, Dr. Lazio was recipient of the Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Scholarship and Robert Kreger Science Scholarship as well as a frequent scholar honoree.

Gamma Knife Experience
Dr. Lazio received her Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Certification from the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2001.

F. Douglas Jones, MD

        Dr. Jones is chief of the Division of Neurological Surgery and a clinical professor at the Brody School of Medicine at East CarolinaUniversity. He has practiced with Eastern Neurosurgical and Spine Associates, Inc. since 1985. His clinical interests include brain tumors, cerebrovascular neurosurgery and spine surgery. Before coming to Greenville, Dr. Jones was assistant professor of neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina, where he also completed his neurosurgical residency under Dr. M. Stephen Mahaley, an internationally known neurosurgeon and clinical investigator.

        An active author and speaker, Dr. Jones enjoys membership in several medical societies, among them the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the North Carolina Neurosurgical Society (of which he is past president), and the Southern Neurosurgical Society. He has also served on the neurosurgery editorial board for Current Surgery and as an Executive Committee member of the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center.

Dr. Jones completed Gamma Knife training at the University of Pittsburgh in 2005.

K. Stuart Lee, MD

        Dr. Lee has practiced in Greenville with Eastern Neurosurgical and Spine Associates since 1989. His advanced training in the treatment of cerebrovascular disorders and interest in treatment of vascular malformations of the brain with the Gamma Knife distinguish him as a member of the Gamma Knife team. He is an adjunct clinical associate professor of neurosurgery at the Brody School of Medicine at ECU, as well as an adjunct associate professor of health education. Dr. Lee's areas of clinical expertise include cerebrovascular surgery, intracranial tumors and spinal disorders; he has focused research on cerebral ischemia and surgical treatment of vascular disease of the brain.

        A member of the first class of physicians graduated from East Carolina University, Dr. Lee is a widely published author and member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Lee received his Gamma Knife certification at Karolinska University Hospital and Queen Sophia Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden.
