David Stick Honored at Southern Shores 20th Anniversary Celebration
In addition to Manteo’s centennial celebration, the more recently incorporated town of Southern Shores on the Outer Banks is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. Leading the anniversary celebration parade on April 24 was David Stick, best known to those with Roanoke colonization-related research interests as a historian of the Outer Banks. However, Stick was the first licensed real estate broker on the Outer Banks and owned Southern Shores Realty—which helped develop much of the town of Southern Shores—from 1956-1970. He also served as Southern Shores’ first mayor. Congratulations to Stick on being honored by the town he helped found.
