DIDACTIC CURRICULUM

The didactic curriculum is comprised of a series of lectures and conferences designed to cover all aspects of PM&R practice.

  • Resident Didactic Curriculum - This didactic series is presented on an 18-month cycle and provides two to three hours of lectures per week for the residents. Lectures are provided by PM&R faculty, outside faculty, and allied health professionals.
  • Journal Club - This monthly conference emphasizes becoming familiar with new research in the field of PM&R as well as continuing the development of critical appraisal skills.
  • Research Conference - Sessions are devoted to teaching research design and methodology in addition to providing a format for stimulating research hypotheses and encouraging collaboration on research projects.
  • PM&R Grand Rounds - Presented by PM&R faculty, senior residents, and selected outside speakers. This conference is designed to cover a specific area of PM&R or related medical practice in depth.
  • PM&R Walking Rounds - These formal resident-led discussions are focused on interesting cases managed in the Rehabilitation Center.
  • Radiology Conference - Led by experienced radiologists, the radiologic studies of specific rehabilitation patients are reviewed and discussed. Differential diagnosis and the appropriate use of radiologic studies are emphasized.
  • Board Review Conference - Using various resources, this conference is designed to prepare the resident physician for successful PM&R board certification.
  • EMG Conference - EMG cases as well as particular EMG topics are reviewed and discussed.
  • Neurosciences Conference - This interdisciplinary conference involves neurology, neurosurgery, radiology, pathology, and rehabilitation medicine. Selected topics are covered on a rotating basis.
