DIDACTIC CURRICULUM
The didactic curriculum is comprised of a series of lectures and conferences
designed to cover all aspects of PM&R practice.
- Resident
Didactic Curriculum - This didactic series is presented on an 18-month
cycle and provides two to three hours of lectures per
week for the residents. Lectures are provided by PM&R faculty, outside faculty, and allied health professionals.
- Journal
Club - This monthly conference emphasizes becoming familiar
with new research in the field of PM&R as well as continuing the development of critical appraisal skills.
- Research
Conference - Sessions are devoted to teaching research design
and methodology in addition to providing a format for stimulating
research hypotheses and encouraging collaboration on research projects.
- PM&R Grand
Rounds - Presented by PM&R faculty, senior residents, and
selected outside speakers. This conference is designed to cover
a specific area of PM&R or related medical practice in depth.
- PM&R Walking
Rounds - These formal resident-led discussions are focused on interesting cases managed in the Rehabilitation Center.
- Radiology
Conference - Led by experienced radiologists, the radiologic
studies of specific rehabilitation patients are reviewed and discussed.
Differential diagnosis and the appropriate use of radiologic
studies are emphasized.
- Board
Review Conference - Using various resources, this conference
is designed to prepare the resident physician for successful PM&R board
certification.
- EMG Conference
- EMG cases as well as particular EMG topics are reviewed and
discussed.
- Neurosciences
Conference - This interdisciplinary conference involves neurology,
neurosurgery, radiology, pathology, and rehabilitation medicine.
Selected topics are covered on a rotating basis.
- Pain Management
Conference - This interdisciplinary conference (PM & R, Rheumatology,
Anesthesia) is designed to cover all aspects of pain management
including complementary medicine practices.
