Welcome to MAC-MLA 2010
We are looking forward to hosting another great MAC conference, this time in Chapel Hill, NC. In these tough economic times when your professional activity funds are limited we hope that you will choose to come to the MAC annual meeting. We are keeping the same registration rate for this meeting as our 2008 conference and we are extending conference membership rates to members of other MLA chapters and ANCHSL (Association of NC Health Sciences Libraries). Also, MAC is sponsoring attendance at the conference for 10 library sciences students.
The meeting will feature a dynamic keynote speaker who has an important message for health professionals, students and all of us who interact with the health care systems. Lisa Sanders is the author of Every Patient Tells a Story: Medical Mysteries and the Art of Diagnosis and she is the technical advisor to the television show House. After several paper and poster presentations and our awards breakfast, the MAC meeting will conclude with a luncheon and keynote speaker to help kick off an e-Sciences symposium organized by UNC Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library and Duke Medical Center Library and sponsored by NN/LM SEA.
The conference will be held at the University of North Carolina's William and Ida Friday Conference Center close to the UNC campus and next to the Marriott Courtyard Hotel. Rooms at the Marriot Courtyard are $129 per night for MAC conference attendees. The historic Carolina Inn located on the UNC Chapel Hill campus is offering room rates of $159 per night, based on availability. For more details, please see our Hotel and Travel page.
The Chapel Hill area is home to many outstanding restaurants including those across the road (connected by a pedestrian tunnel) in Meadowmont Village, a new village design with restaurants and shopping areas. A Welcome reception will be held at the historic Carolina Inn with musical entertainment provided by some of our very own talented musicians.
We hope you will come and network with your MAC colleagues including our new Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania members. We promise a challenging and rewarding experience in Chapel Hill this October.
