NCEM-ECU Annual Hurricane Workshop

North Carolina Emergency Management in partnership with East Carolina University's Center for Natural Hazards Research and the Center for Coastal Systems Informatics and Modeling (formerly RENCI at ECU) are hosting a Hurricane Workshop at the Murphy Center in Greenville, NC. This fourth annual workshop will enhance your understanding of resources and will assist you in preparedness and response to hurricanes. The workshop will include:

• Keynote Speaker: Commander Linda Sturgis, Chief of Emergency Prevention, Coast Guard Sector, New York
• Panel Discussions with Experts and Practioners:
  • Social Media and Risk Communications
  • Modeling and Planning for Storm Surge
  • Reports from the Field: Hurricane Sandy
• Research Projects from ECU and Partners

Emergency managers, county managers, elected officials, and those representing agencies with responsibilities during a hurricane are invited to attend.
