NCEM-ECU Annual Hurricane Workshop

North Carolina Emergency Management in partnership with East Carolina University's Center for Natural Hazards Research and the Renaissance Computing Institute's Engagement Center at ECU are hosting a Hurricane Workshop at the Murphy Center in Greenville, NC. This third annual workshop will enhance your understanding of resources and will assist you in preparedness and response to hurricanes. The workshop will include:

  • Keynote Speaker: Bill Read, Director of the National Hurricane Center
  • Panel Discussions with Experts and Practioners:
    • Social Media and Emergency Communications
    • Communication with Maps and Graphics
    • News Media and Emergency Management Community Interactions
    • Lessons from Hurricane Irene
  • Research Projects from ECU and Partners

Emergency managers, county managers, elected officials, and those representing agencies with responsibilities during a hurricane are invited to attend.
