RENCI at ECU has officially launched the Storms to Life website. This project aims to maintain and improve public awareness of the risk of living and owning property along the coast by bringing previous North Carolina storms to life through narratives, photographs, and other historical artifacts.
Graduate research associate Jingyuan Li spent the summer working with the town of Topsail Beach to document their flood mitigation activities for the National Flood Insurance Program's Community Rating System.
RENCI and ECU will host
Tim Schneider, program manager for the NOAA Hydrometeorological
Testbed, a NOAA R&D forecasting and testing program that will begin its next regional program in the
Southeast in the coming year.
Michelle Covi and the RENCI ROVER
took educational programs for children and parents to two sites operated by
Partnership for the Sounds. The program, "Don’t
Get Blown Away by Hurricanes," featured an educational overview of hurricane science and emergency preparation along
with hands-on activities for a variety of age groups.
