Director's Welcome
On behalf of the faculty and staff of the School of Art and Design at East Carolina University, let me welcome you to the School’s alumni website. Hopefully, you have kept in touch with us and enjoyed the contact and support of your fellow classmates who have also progressed into the “real world.”
I would like to emphasize that we remain a fully accredited institutional
member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. To
gain the distinction of specialized accreditation in the visual arts,
we have
subjected our program to rigorous, outside peer review. This review
results in a curriculum that is tested, proven and accepted as logical
and sound.
The East Carolina University School of Art first achieved accreditation
in 1962 and has been employing national standards in its course work
ever since. No doubt, you have enjoyed the benefits and recognition
of that reputation.
For our students, this has not only meant a systematic and ordered
program of study but also the inclusion of related experiences such
as a visiting
artist/speaker series, an active gallery schedule, impressive physical
facilities and international opportunities with established programs
in Wales, Estonia, Italy, Finland, Russia and Germany.
With this alumni website, the School of Art is now offering a new
and expanded service to its former students. It is our hope that
you will
use this site to learn more about what is happening with each other
and with your university.
Networking has always proven to be crucial to the continued success
of artists and teachers. Allow me to invite you to reestablish
lasting ties
and to create new ones.
