Field trips to regional and national conferences
Each year the photography area faculty and students travel to the Society of Photographic Education regional and national conferences. These trips are subsidized with funds from the Photography Guild.
Scholarships & Awards
Each year students may submit materials in order to be considered for a number of scholarships, some of which are specific to areas or level of student. Information packages are made available in the Media Center when it is time to submit applications. All students are urged to apply.
Exhibition Opportunities/Competitions
Photography students are encouraged to submit their best work into competitive venues. One such venue is the Undergraduate Student Exhibition. Annually the School of Art & Design’s Gray Gallery sponsors a juried undergraduate exhibition. Another competitive venue that painting students are encouraged to participate in is The Rebel, ECU’s campus literary magazine’s annual competition. Graduate and undergraduate work is juried in for an exhibition with awards and then publication in the annually produced publication.
Additional juried venues for photography students include the Photographer’s Forum magazine and exchange exhibitions organized by the area faculty annually.
