Undergraduate Admission
Admission to the BFA in Art concentration in photography is based upon a portfolio review by the faculty. A strong work ethic and willingness to explore concepts and ideas are expected
Prior to portfolio submission a student must successfully complete the required art foundation courses during the freshman year and prepare for entry into the photography concentration by completing ART 2220: Photography Survey and ART 2225: Basic Black and White Photography. Students must have a minimum cumulative 2.6 GPA in their photography and survey courses.
The submitted portfolio for photography should contain:
• 12 photographs appropriately presented from source projects in ART 2220 and ART 2225
• A notebook of contact sheets
Photography portfolio reviews occur at the end of Spring semester.
Upon acceptance to the photography concentration, students are required to purchase a laptop at least equal to the current specified Macintosh computer with specified Photoshop software and a DSLR camera. After each portfolio review, accepted students are sent a letter advising them of the current computer specifications.
