CHRISTINE L. ZOLLER

Biographical Sketch

Christine Zoller was born in Queens, New York in 1956 and grew up with a love of textiles.  She spent her early years in a yarn store managed by her best friend’s mom and it was here that she learned to knit, crochet, sew and embroider.  Christine spent her beginning career in banking doing real estate construction loan lending for 14 years.  This business background has served her well in her own business dealings and she continues to educate her students in different business practices.  At the age of 30, she decided to pursue her lifelong interest in textiles by earning her Bachelors of Science degree in textile design from Buffalo State College in Buffalo, New York in 1991.  This led to obtaining a Masters of Fine Arts in textile design from The University of Georgia in Athens, GA in 1995.  It was in graduate school that Christine knew she loved to teach and is presently an Associate Professor and Textile Area Coordinator at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.  Christine has taught at other universities and has conducted numerous workshops at many institutions including:  Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts (Tennessee), Penland School of Crafts, (North Carolina), The Birmingham Museum of Art (Alabama),  and the Quilt Surface  Design Symposium (Ohio).  Her work has been exhibited internationally and throughout the United States and can be seen in such publications as Surface Design Journal and the Fiberarts Design Books Five and Six.
