TEXTILE AREA STATEMENT OF TEACHING PHILOSOPY

We offer both a BFA and MFA programs in textile design. The textiles area is dedicated to the preservation of time honored traditions in both surface design and weaving.  In addition, students will use the knowledge gained to continue to cross-new boundaries within our media and form an appreciation for the traditional and the contemporary as well as the functional and aesthetic aspects of working with fiber and cloth.

The textile area is fully equipped to handle the education of our students with two print labs including padded tables and all other necessary equipment, a well stocked dye kitchen, a dark room equipped with vacuum exposure table, a computer lab which contains Point Carree and two weaving labs containing 24 looms both 4 and 8 harness as well as two AVL looms.

We welcome students from across the nation and abroad to visit our facilities and meet with our instructors to discuss both the undergraduate and graduate textile programs of the School of Art and Design.
