The ECU Wood Design program offers both an undergraduate (BFA) (BFAED)and graduate (MFA ) degree that balances the aesthetic and conceptual use of wood as a material-specific form of personal expression. Not just a program in furniture design, wood design at ECU embraces the entire spectrum of functional possibilities from jewelry scale to vessels, to furniture, musical instruments including guitars and other string instruments, or even boats., encouraging a uniquely versatile freedom of choice.  With faculty trained in all areas of wood design, (including musical instrument making) instruction is provided in a well equipped studio and a stimulating environment for artistic exploration.
