Resident Advisors
Campus Living seeks qualified candidates to apply for Resident Advisor positions. Every year we have about 60 positions available after spring graduation.
Campus Living requires that all RA candidates have the following:
- Minimum of a 2.5 semester and cumulative GPA
- Clear judicial record with Campus Living and the University (this does not mean you can never have been documented, it just means you met with the person you were supposed to and completed any sanctions that may have been distributed)
- Clear criminal record (no arrests, etc.)
- Must provide documentation that you have lived in a residence hall (ECU or other university) for at least one full semester

Application Process
Applications may be downloaded and printed from this site, or you may pick up an application from the Campus Living Office in Jones Hall, the Neighborhood Service Office (NSO) at Todd Dining Hall or West End Dining Hall.
Applications are accepted year-round, but you are encouraged to submit your completed application prior to the posted deadline to be considered for our peak employment period when we hire RAs for the upcoming academic year.
Your application packet is complete when you submit:

2 References (example: professor(s), advisor, employer,
etc) – forms provided
1 Reference (current RA) – form provided
Copy of valid driver’s license*
Copy of signed social security card*
Only those applicants with complete application packets, clear judicial record, and minimum GPAs will be considered for open positions.
* Copies should be enlarged for clarity. The photo must be clear and all information legible. The seal on the Social Security card must be legible. The Campus Living front desk staff will be happy to assist with making copies when you bring in your completed application.
Selection Process
Fall Semester
To be considered for Spring 2009 openings, applications must be submitted by Monday, November 10, 2008.
Residence Hall Coordinators will conduct interviews between November 17-25, 2008.
Candidates will be hired as needed when positions become available.
Spring Semester
To be considered for 2009-2010 openings, applications must be submitted by Monday, February 9, 2009.
When you apply for a 2009-2010 RA position, you will be required to attend an event scheduled on Sunday, February 22, 2009, from 2-9 pm.
This event is designed to give us a chance to get to know you, for you to learn more about the responsibilities of being an RA, and for interviews to be conducted.
Following this event, chosen candidates will receive a letter notifying them of their employment status by mid-April.
Additionally, you will want to participate in an event called Playfair, which will be held during the week of February 16-20, 2009. This will include a series of group icebreakers where candidates will be broken into groups and follow various instructions to meet many of the other candidates, Coordinators, and RAs in the room.
