Mind + Body = Total Wellness

September 17, 2009– October 8, 2009
Thursdays ~ 12:05 – 1:00 PM
SRC 238
FREE to Students/Faculty/Staff and SRC Members!
Instructor: Diane Bradshaw

A four-week series designed to reduce stress and foster deep relaxation by combining guided imagery, breathing, energy and yoga for a healthier, happier you.  No experience necessary. Please wear flexible, comfortable clothing.
Workshop topics include:

Breathing to Beat the Blues:

Learn how to moderate and balance your mood thorough simple (yoga) breathing techniques followed by deep relaxation.  When you consciously regulate the breath, you can manage your feelings and moods by increasing and decreasing your energy levels.  When you learn to breathe fully and deeply, you reconnect with your core essence.

Energy Medicine:

By using acupressure points of the body, you can revitalize, protect, and balance the body, mind, and spirit.  Learn a simple five minute routine for daily physical and emotional maintenance.

Yoga for Total Wellness:

A complete stress reduction program using yoga postures (asanas), breath (pranayama), guided imagery, and education about stress from a yoga perspective.  Learn how to recalibrate your nervous system for a calmer, healthier, happier you.

Healing Through the Chakras:

Learn how the mind, body, and spirit are connected through the seven main energy centers (according to Eastern healing philosophies) of the body.  Each energy center corresponds to certain emotions and physical aspects.  Heal emotional wounds and physical ailments through guided imagery, yoga postures, and lecture.
