Student Eligibility

Currently enrolled students are eligible for health care by appointment or on an urgent care basis in the Student Health Service if they have paid the student health fee as a part of their general university tuition fees. The cost of services of off-campus physicians, Pitt County Memorial Hospital, and agencies other than the Student Health Service are not included in the health fee. A special health insurance plan may be purchased through the Student Health Service, but is not included in the health fee.

Summer: During the summer months, students who are not enrolled in the summer session but who were enrolled the previous academic semester and have enrolled for the following academic semester are eligible for care by paying the health fee or a professional fee each visit and any additional charges.

Post Graduation: Due to anti-trust laws we cannot provide medical services to students who are no longer enrolled in classes. Students who are no longer enrolled in classes at ECU but need a follow up visit will be allowed a grace period of two weeks post graduation . ECU Graduates who are no longer enrolled will not be eligible for care after the two-week grace period. At the time of the follow up visit these students will be advised to secure the services of their own health care provider for any additional health care needs, including physicals and gynecological examinations. SHS will assist with providing the students with the SHS Resource List and recommendations. SHS will supply referral information as needed. Persons no longer enrolled in the university may request copies of their medical records at any time.

Students' Spouses and Dependents: Spouses and dependents are not eligible for services at Student Health Service.
