Charges
The Student Health Service fee that ECU students pay as part of their general university tuition entitles them to most professional services offered by the Student Health Service. Some costs for services beyond this scope are assessed to the patient due to their expense and variability. These fees for services such as prescription medications, x-ray, and laboratory services are kept to minimum and generally are considerably less than services available at a non Student Health Service medical office. Due to increased costs Student Health Service does not accept payment from insurance companies. Some insurance co pays and deductible benefits may offset the cost benefit of Student Health Service for services beyond those covered by the Student Health Service fee. For more information on insurance, filling of claims, and the available ECU Student Insurance please call (252) 328-6841.
Payment
Cash, Check, MasterCard/Visa, Charge to Cashier's Office: We accept cash, personal checks, MasterCard, and Visa. If you are a student you may charge the medication and supplies to your cashier's account at the cashier's office. The last option applies the charges to your student account with the University Cashier's office. If you elect to defer your charges to your student account, payment should be made to the University Cashier's office within 30 days following services rendered or before the end of the current semester, whichever is sooner. Until payment is received, please be aware that your records will be tagged, which may prevent you from registering for classes, receiving your official course schedule, graduating from ECU, or receiving transcripts. Beyond your current semester of enrollment, balances remaining on your student account will begin to accrue interest and may be submitted for collections to the NC Attorney General, garnishment of state income tax refunds and external collection agencies. Please pay your bill at the cashier's office in a timely manner.
Payment Arrangements: Payment arrangements must be made at the time of service. Any charges not taken care of by the close of the business day are charged to the Cashier's Office.
Charges appearing at the Cashier's Office: Charges posted at the Cashier's Office are noted as a Student Health Charge and this posting reveals no specifics concerning your actual visit. The Student Health Service holds with the utmost regard a patient's right to privacy and information concerning your visit is not accessible by any person outside of Student Health Service without your expressed written permission.
