Online Book Requisitions   ---
LINK TO TUTORIALS & THE ONLINE REQUISITION SYSTEM

Summer and Fall 2013 Textbook Requisitions are due by Friday, March 1, 2013.

An email from Dowdy Student Store is sent to all faculty teaching Summer & Fall 2013 courses, that includes a personalized login link to the new textbook requisition system. Class registration for students begins in March, and by having your textbook information submitted as soon as possible helps fulfill ECU's requirement to meet HOEA mandates.

This new online textbook requisition system makes it more simple to enter your information, keep track of your textbook requisitions, and allow for automated email reminders to be sent to you.

The early time frame is set up for several reasons:

1)  So that book lists can be prepared for student schedules so they can find lower-cost textbooks.

2)  The bookstore can search for more used books on the wholesale market to have on the shelves for students.

3.  It is mandated by the UNC-GA that a minimum of 90% of all textbook requisitions be submitted by ECU faculty and reported at a date PRIOR to each buyback.  The Provost, and Deans ask to be notified of faculty who meet this deadline each term as this must be listed in an annual report to the state. ECU is compared to other universities across the state in this report. In addition, the HEOA, Higher Education Opportunity Act has strict criteria and mandates requiring textbook information be provided to students to aid in determining textbooks costs when they register for courses.

Your contacts at Dowdy are Barbara Ward, Justin Bennett, or Shirley Johnson at the Wright Building location, and Shannon Tillett at the Medical Bookstore.

Email us if you have questions, or phone (252) 328-6731.

Requesting a Faculty Desk Copy
A desk copy is generally given for every 25 books adopted for a course. An examination/review copy of a textbook may be requested from publishers before adopting it for a course.

Click here to view various publisher's information and requesting procedures.

When requesting a textbook desk copy from Dowdy Student Stores an authorization form must be completed, approved by the academic department, signed, and submitted to the store in order to charge the desk copy to the department.  If the desk copy/examination copy is not returned within 60 days in a like-new, salable condition, the textbook will be charged to the department. You may wish to consider requesting a student copy of the textbook if you plan to return it, as a text stamped Free Desk Copy cannot be sold.

You may wish to see if a digital version of the textbook is available before requesting a hard copy. Free examination of digital textbooks, when available, can be viewed through our CourseSmart link.
