The Office of Emerging Academic Initiatives (EAI) provides unique opportunities to ECU students who are studying on the resident campus and to students who are studying at a distance. The award winning Global Understanding/Academic Initiatives program enables ECU students to collaborate in real time with students and professors in more than four dozen universities located in more than two dozen countries. The Office of Continuing Studies partners with ECU’s academic and administrative units to serve business, industry, the military, community colleges, and local school systems. Continuing Studies conducts its activities in partnership with all units of the university and encompasses Summer School, Distance and Extension Education, Continuing Professional Education, the Testing Center, Summer Study Abroad, and Military Outreach. Continuing Studies serves as a bridge between the student at a distance and the academic and administrative units of the university. Our DE State Authorization program ensures that ECU is compliant with other states’ DE requirements to ensure that students who are studying online in other states can take full advantage of ECU’s unique DE programs. Emerging Academic Initiatives provides a range of services to students and faculty in the online environment. The ECU DE Proctoring Center is a member of the UNC Proctoring Network and administers thousands of exams each semester to many of ECU’s DE students. If you would like to discuss our activities and projects in any of these areas, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
