What are some of the things you are proud of at ECU?
I am proud to be part of a university where the profession of my choosing is one of the top programs in the nation: nursing. Also, I have never been to any other college football game where the students were so intense and so enthusiastic in cheering on their fellow Pirates. It's great to have people ask you if you are a student at ECU when you are wearing Pirate attire. It makes you feel as if you are a part of something bigger than yourself when you hear their positive comments about ECU.
Tell me about your dream job and how you became interested in nursing.
My dream job would be working as a pediatric nurse practitioner at the Duke Children’s Hospital. I became interested in nursing through my grandfather. He had a lot of medical problems and was on dialysis at home, so I would help him with that. He also has diabetes, so I would help him with his shots. Also, I went with my sister when we took her to the Duke Children’s Hospital for checkups, and I saw all of the children. I love children, and I want to be able to help them and make their stay at the hospital as a pleasant one.
What is something about ECU you wish everyone could experience?
I wish everyone could experience the great atmosphere ECU has created for its students. ECU is a friendly university. Students and faculty alike are very helpful when it comes to any issues you may be having.
What would you tell a prospective student about ECU?
ECU is a great university to attend. A variety of information is available to help them make their decision about which degree they wish to pursue. They should also join clubs, get involved at ECU, and take advantage of all the opportunities the university offers. Lastly, never hesitate to ask professors if you have questions because they are always willing to help.
