Champions of Freedom
The ECU Champions of Freedom fund was formed to serve, honor to support charitable organizations that serve, honor and care for those in America's Armed Forces, our veterans and their families as well as preparing values-based leaders for today and the future. Dr. Ted Morris, associate vice chancellor for Engagement, Innovation and Economic Development, is the director of ECU Champions of Freedom.
Recently, ECU Champions of Freedom was the entertainment sponsor for JFKSWCS 165th Green Beret graduation ceremonies and brought New Orleans’ renowned Victory Belles singing trio to perform for new Green Berets at a special family picnic, for veterans at the Fayetteville’s Veteran’s Administration Hospital, and the public display of the 911 Flag at the Airbourne & Special Operations Museum.
The Victory Belles are regular performers at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. They are known for spirited performances of such nostalgic hits as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Don’t Sit under the Apple Tree, Chattanooga Choo Choo and I’ll Be Seeing You, all sung in three-part harmony.
