College of Business - Graduate Scholarships

Scholarship awards are available for full-time and part-time MBA and MSA students.  Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and academic merit and can be for one semester or for the full program.

Award categories include, but are not limited to, the following:
GOLD Graduate Scholarship
This merit-based scholarship is awarded prior to students beginning their MBA or MSA program.  The award is typically $3,000 (online) or $4,000 (on campus) and is distributed per semester for four semesters for online students and up to three semesters for on-campus students -- up to a total of $12,000.  Students are only eligible to apply for this for the term in which he/she begins the MBA or MSA program. Summer admits apply for fall consideration.

Gold Graduate Scholarship applications require:

Completed online scholarship application (application includes an original essay of no more than 250 words, explaining why the student deserves the scholarship.

A current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the ECU Financial Aid Office (US students only) for the semester in which you are applying for the scholarship ** this must be completed one week prior to the application deadline**!

Three letters of recommendation from employers, faculty members, or academic advisors.  The reference letters must all be pdf attachments sent in one email to gradbus@ecu.edu or mailed in one envelope to:

Students admitted during summer sessions will have their scholarship application reviewed with fall semester applications.

Applications must be received by June 1 for Fall semester and October 15 for Spring semester.

PURPLE Graduate Scholarship
This financial-need scholarship is awarded each semester to full-time, part-time, online, on campus, new, or current students.  Part-time students must be registered for at least 6 semester hours in their program to be eligible for this scholarship.  The award is for one semester and can range in award amounts depending on full-time/part-time, level of need, and campus/online registration. 

Purple Graduate Scholarship applications require:

Completed online scholarship application (application includes an original essay of no more than 250 words, explaining why the student deserves the scholarship.

A current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the ECU Financial Aid Office (US students only) for the semester in which you are applying for the scholarship ** this must be completed one week prior to the application deadline**!

Applications must be received by April 1 for Fall semester and by September 1 for Spring semester.


PIRATE Graduate Scholarship
The scholarship is based on academic performance and community stewardship.  Current MBA and MSA students at ECU with a 4.00 GPA and 12 hours of completed graduate work in their program are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The award is for one semester (fall and/or spring) and can range in award amounts depending on full-time/part-time and campus/online registration.

Pirate Graduate Scholarship applications require:

Completed online scholarship application (application includes an original essay of no more than 250 words, explaining why the student deserves the scholarship -- including community stewardship activities.
- A current resume via email to gradbus@ecu.edu
- A current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the ECU Financial Aid Office (US students only) for the semester in which you are applying for the scholarship ** this must be completed one week prior to the application deadline **!

Applications must be received by April 1 for Fall semester and by September 1 for Spring semester.

IMPORTANT!  (for all scholarships)

All Graduate Business Student Scholarship application will be reviewed by the College of Business Graduate Programs Office and awards will be approved by the Dean of the College of Business.

Please be aware that if you receive the Gold Graduate Scholarship, you are not eligible for the Purple or Pirate Graduate Scholarships.

It is possible to receive both the Purple and Pirate Graduate Scholarships in one semester, but the combined award will not exceed the full cost of the semester's tuition cost.

Students must be admitted to the MBA or MSA program by the scholarship deadline in order to be considered for a scholarship.

College of Business Scholarship Program

An award of one of the three Graduate Scholarships does NOT make you ineligible to receive a College of Business scholarship that is administered through the College of Business Professional Programs Office.  You may review those available scholarships and the application at http://www.ecu.edu/cs-bus/scholarship.cfm

Summer school is not included in scholarship awards.
