More than 100 Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences alumni and friends gathered together on February 24 to hear about a favorite topic for any ECU constituent: piracy.

The “A Night of Piracy at the Museum” event was Harriot College’s first-ever alumni reception in the Raleigh/Durham area, which was hosted at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

The evening featured Dr. Charlie Ewen, an anthropology faculty member who has published several works on Blackbeard, piracy and the Queen Anne’s Revenge. Attendees also learned about several of the college’s points of pride, including the Voyages of Discovery Lecture Series, from Dr. William Downs, dean of Harriot College.
