Dr. Reide Corbett

Expedition to Antartica

Dr. Reide Corbett, professor of geological sciences, senior research scientist at the ECU Institute of Coastal Science and Policy and program head for Coastal Processes at the UNC Coastal Studies Institute, is leading a scientific team of faculty and graduate students from ECU, UNC-CSI and Coastal Carolina University on a scientific expedition to Antarctica. This collaborative project is funded through a three-year $900,000 grant from the National Science Foundation’s Office of Polar Programs. The group departed from Punta Arenas, Chile, on February 13 for a five-week-long voyage on the 230-foot Research Vessel, Laurence M. Gould.
