Woodard, J.

Woodard is Back on Broadway

Actor Jeremy Woodard began rehearsals this past September on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s (The Phantom of the Opera & Jesus Christ Superstar) new musical School of Rock opening at the historical Winter Garden Theatre. The musical, which opened October, is based on the 2003 Jack Black film The School of Rock. Jeremy was last seen on Broadway in Sting’s The Last Ship.

Congratulations also go out to Jeremy for being honored by East Carolina University with the Distinguished Alumni Award. Jeremy also took a quick break from Broadway to attend the festivities.

Marisha Wallace

Marisha Wallace on Broadway

Last April, Marisha Wallace (BFA - Musical Theatre & Theatre Education) began the run of her second Broadway production in less than a year. Marisha was cast cast in the new Broadway musical, Something Rotten!. She was recently featured in the ensemble of Disney's, Aladdin and a part of the Original Broadway Cast Recording.

Kevin Williamson

Kevin Williamson Continues to Shine

SoTD alum Kevin Williamson continues to shine. You may know Kevin as the writer of the Scream movie series, Dawson's Creek and the creator of the CW series, The Vampire Diaries, but you must to check out his latest venture, the Fox hit, The Following. The production stars Kevin Bacon as a FBI agent in the middle of a web of serial killers lead by James Purefoy, Marc Antony in the HBO series, Rome. The Following is a suspenseful thriller that will keep you riveted to the screen.

SoTD professor, Gregory Funaro's second book in Disney-Hyperion's Odditorium series, "Alistair Grimm's Odd Aquaticum" hit the shelves in January. He's been receiving great critical response. Theatre for Youth Students Visit Japan

ECU and The University of Shimane Students Meet Face-to-Face and Present

“Tales From Around the World”

After two and a half years of linking and a visit to ECU from Professor Eleanor Kane during the fall of 2014, from the University of Shimane, School of Theatre and Dance Theatre for Youth students Gina Belmont, Gabe Donohue and Dylan Ritch traveled with Professor Patch Clark to Shimane, Japan in October 2015 to meet face-to-face and work, rehearse and perform with their linking partners.  ECU students met with President Honda to talk about their linking experiences and ECU.  They later met and began working with Professor Eleanor Kane’s students to prepare and rehearse a children’s theatre performance, “Tales From Around the World” which included two favorite tales from Japan, “Peach Boy,” and “The Bouncing Rice Balls” both gathered during previous linking sessions between ECU and the University of Shimane.
