Patients Not Assigned to a Student or Resident
The school provides emergency care for new patient emergencies at our Emergency Care Clinic in Ledyard E. Ross Hall, 1851 MacGregor Downs Road, in Greenville, located on the ECU Health Sciences Campus between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. To schedule an emergency appointment, please call 252-737-7832. Walk-in emergencies will also be taken as availability permits. There is a basic fee of $56, which includes exam and one X-ray.

If you are a patient who has been assigned to a student or resident for treatment (patient of record), please call the student or resident in case of emergency.

What to Bring to Your Emergency Appointment

  • Valid Photo ID
  • Dental Insurance Card 
  • A list of your current medications/dosages and allergies
  • Name, phone number, and fax number of your regular medical doctor
  • Results of any recent blood work 


Becoming a Patient of Record

A visit to the School of Dental Medicine Emergency Care Clinic does not enroll you as a patient of record at the school. If you would like to become a patient at the School of Dental Medicine, please call 252-737-7834 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and ask for a free screening appointment.


Treatment of Emergencies after 5:00 p.m. and Weekends
Treatment of emergencies after 5:00 p.m. weekdays and on weekends is limited to School of Dental Medicine patients of record. Individuals who are not patients of record at the dental school and seek emergency care after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, weekends, and certain holidays when the school is closed will be seen as quickly as possible by our emergency care team during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday).

At Community Service Learning Centers Across North Carolina
The School of Dental Medicine offers emergency care services at our Community Service Learning Centers in Ahoskie, Brunswick County, Elizabeth City, Davidson County, Lillington, Robeson County, Spruce Pine, and Sylva, North Carolina, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on a walk-in basis. Please arrive early for emergency services. 


After hours emergency services will be provided for patients of record as needed.
