Dr. Wilson joined the faculty of the ECU School of Dental Medicine as a Clinical Professor in November 2009. As Associate Dean for Student Affairs, she is responsible for the recruitment, admission and graduation of students who possess the aptitudes and skills to be highly competent, ethical health care professionals who are prepared to assume leadership positions within the rural and underserved communities they serve. As Vice Dean, Dr. Wilson has broader responsibilities in working alongside the Dean of the School of Dental Medicine to ensure the implementation of the school’s strategic objectives. In her role as Interim Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, she is responsible for the oversight of the School’s eight Community Service Learning Centers, located across the state of North Carolina. Dr. Wilson also coordinates the dental students’ ethics and professionalism curriculum.
Prior to joining the faculty at ECU, Dr. Wilson served as a faculty member and administrator at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. She served in various capacities, including full-time clinical General Practice Manager, Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Associate Dean for Professional Programs. She earned the DDS degree from the Medical College of Virginia, and completed a General Practice Residency program at the University of Maryland Hospital. Dr. Wilson also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, and an undergraduate degree from Lipscomb University. She was in private dental practice and also worked in college health before entering full-time academia in 1990.
Dr. Wilson and her husband Guy Wilson have one adult son, Alex, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
