Biographical Information:Dr. Carter received his DDS from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1978. From there he went on to serve as a Navy Dentist at the Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Point, NC for three years followed by work as a civilian dentist in Maryland for 3 ½ years. He joined the US Army in 1985 and worked as a general dentist in a variety of places including For Bragg, NC; San Antonio, TX and Wonju, South Korea. He received his certificate of training from the AEGD-2 year program at Fort Hood, TX in 1991 and successfully passed his boards and achieved diplomat status with the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry and the America Board of General Dentistry in 1993. He went on to serve as a comprehensive dentist at Fort Eustis, VA. In 1995, he was selected to serve as the Army Exchange Officer for the Royal Army Dental Corps in Aldershot, England. In 1997, Dr. Carter was assigned to Baumholder, Germany where he started up an AEGD-1 year program and served as its assistant director. He went on to serve as assistant director and director of AEGD program in Fort Meade, MD; Fort Lewis, WA and Fort Bragg, NC. He retired from the military after 30 years of service in January 2012 at which time he took his present position as Director of the ECU SoDM GPR-1 year program.
Dr. Carter is a Diplomat of the American Board of General Dentistry, has his mastership with the Academy of General Dentistry and is a fellow of the American College of Dentist. He was awarded the Army “A” designator for outstanding accomplishments in comprehensive dentistry. His military awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the order of Military Medal Merit and the Legion of Merit.
He and his wife, Lynn, and daughter, Megan, are very happy to be living here in Greenville and are enjoying the warm southern hospitality and the many benefits of living in such a nice area.
