Biographical Information
Dr. Dyer, a native of Pittsburgh, PA, was most recently in private practice in Charlotte, NC before joining East Carolina School of Dental Medicine where he is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of General Dentistry. During that time, he served as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Operative Dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Clinical Attending Faculty Member for Carolina Medical Center’s General Practice Residency (GPR) Program in Charlotte. In addition, his former practice served as a training office for the Dental Assisting Program at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, as well.

Dr. Dyer received his dental degree in 1982 from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and completed GPR Training the following year at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He received his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2001. Dr. Dyer is an alumnus of the L.D. Pankey Institute and holds certification from the Academy of Laser Dentistry in several different laser systems. He has numerous completion certificates from extended programs in topics related to endodontics, orthodontics, implants, TMJ/occlusion, sleep apnea, and practice management.

Dr. Dyer has served on the Advisory Boards of both the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting Programs for Central Piedmont Community College. He is a past-president of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity, ETA Chapter and a recipient of the Fraternal Achievement Award from the fraternity’s National Council. In addition, he was one of several who were rated by Best of Charlotte as Best General Dentist in 2008 and was selected by separate peer-reviews to be included in the 2010 and 2011 Charlotte, 2012 National and 2014 State top Dentists listings.

Dr. Dyer has three grown children. His interests include skiing, golf, racquetball and competitive shooting.
