After graduation from dental school, Dr. Jacobson completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Jacksonville. Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Jacobson joined a private practice in Florida. In 1997 Dr. Jacobson was recruited to the faculty at the University of Florida College of Dentistry Jacksonville clinic as a volunteer Clinical Instructor and then accepted a full time- position as Assistant AEGD Director for the Jacksonville Clinic in 1999. Later in 2005 she was appointed as a CODA Site Visitor for AEGD programs and completed 4 site visits. When the AEGD program closed in 2010. Dr. Jacobson spent a year in private practice in Jacksonville before accepting her current position at ECU.
Clinical Interests One of Dr. Jacobson’s main areas of interest is Dental Ethics. She was responsible for creating an Ethics Seminar curriculum for residents at the Jacksonville AEGD. Dr. Jacobson completed a Graduate Certificate in Ethics and Applied Philosophy in 2007 and has presented seminars and lectures on ethics to dental professionals and business organizations. Dr. Jacobson was selected to present a paper she co-authored on esthetic dentistry and ethics at the New Speakers Stage at the 2010 ADA in Orlando. Dr. Jacobson has been very active in patient and parent support groups for people with facial differences. She is a past president of the Florida Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association.
In her free time Dr. Jacobson enjoys traveling, hiking, the arts, family and friends and long walks with her dog.
