The Acting Internship in Emergency Medicine at ECU Emergency Medicine is a four-week elective available to qualified fourth-year medical students from LCME or AOA approved schools.

Students will spend 13-15; eight to nine-hour shifts in the Emergency Department at Vidant Medical Center. This will include days, overnights and weekends. Students have responsibility for direct patient care with supervision by Emergency Medicine Faculty and Residents. Students also spend one shift with local EMS crews learning pre-hospital care. Reading materials as well as 8 hours per week of didactic learning are provided.
